Description

The tongue-in-cheek title conveys the juxtaposition of complex, technically virtuous artwork confined to a small physical space; much like the enormity and grandeur of Napoleon Bonaparte confined to a small physical form. The artists in the exhibition have accepted the challenge to express their complex artistic vision without the use of unlimited space.

DESCRIPTION

A landmark gallery in SoHo since 1984, AFA (formerly Animazing) began as an exhibition space specializing in conceptual animation art. Over time, we broadened that scope to include works by renowned Illustrators and pop culture commercial artists as well as fine artists. In 2012, in keeping with the momentum of our natural development and growth, we revamped the gallery’s program with new artists, exhibitions and endeavors and renamed it AFA (Animazing Fine Art).

At AFA, we are inspired by works that are layered with dark complexity and symbolism, indulging the senses and engaging the emotions. We exhibit paintings, drawings and sculpture created by important established and extraordinary emerging artists – including Tim Burton, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Tom Everhart, Daniel Merriam and Kirk Reinert. Our criteria are masterful technique, wild imagination and edgy subject matter. We strive to represent our  artists with savvy and passion in an environment that is enjoyable, informative and accessible.

The Artist and AFA Gallery are delighted to announce the opening of a new group show that will take place simultaneously in New York and Las Vegas. The exhibition will explore the creativity of a number of artists when confined to a 10 x 10 inch square. Over 100 new original works will be on display during the exhibition.

Dallas/Fort Worth  July 22nd, 2016:  Ryan Spiritas is a Dallas/Fort Worth born and bred Artist whose works have premiered to great acclaim throughout North America. Two weeks ago the events in Dallas rocked his world. He reacted to the events in the way an Artist reacts….he went to his studio and in four days straight he created  Healing Dallas:  A Tribute to Blue.  On Friday, July 15th,2016,  at the premiere VIP opening of his new Exhibition, the gallerist, Tal Milan, offered the piece for sale, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Assist The Officer Foundation www.atodallas.org.

Healing Blue:  A Tribute to Dallas sold in the first 3 minutes, for an appreciable sum of money, to Dallas/Fort Worth couple Jana and Danny Freundlich.  The Artist, the gallerist and the donors will present a check to Tony Castleberg of the Dallas Police’s Assist the Officer Foundation at 3:30 pm CST on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016 at the gallery.

Healing Dallas - A Tribute to Blue

The piece was created by the Artist addressing the slain officers and unrest in Dallas. The Artist and the gallerist are committed to both aiding and healing the community in which they live and work. Spiritas has created an exact replica of the artwork that he will present to the Mayor and hopes to have it hang in City Hall, as a Commemorative in honor of the officers.

It is the expression of his love for his community and a tribute to the men & women if the Dallas Police force who put their well-being and their lives on the line each and every day.

As Chief Brown expressed his heartbreak over the loss of five fallen “Guardians of Freedom”, the City of Dallas mourns. Five families will not see their loved ones again, while the reasoning behind their loss goes beyond reason.

We owe it to the living to remember. The Dallas Police Department, on behalf of the Assist the Officer Foundation, will thank the Artist publicly for remembering them, with your prayers, with your support, with your contributions. Let us all move forward from this event strengthened, united and better for their sacrifice.
